I became acquainted with Sierra approximately 5 years ago when I gave her a dressage lesson at the stable where she kept her horse. I have taught many students at her young age and most don’t possess the fortitude and dedication to continue riding well into their senior year in high school. As she matured, her scope of riding skill did as well. She has advanced to not only a higher level of riding in dressage and jumping but has achieved an understanding that proficient riding is directly aligned with proficient training of the horse that is being ridden; a responsibility that Sierra takes very seriously and does so with consistency, patience, and perseverance while experiencing a profound joy in loving horses.
I have recently awarded her with the opportunity of leasing my horse; a decision that reflects the great trust I have in her and her skills. She continues to take lessons with me and I marvel at what she has accomplished.
In addition, Sierra joined the high school’s equestrian team in grade 8 for which I have served as coach for 15 years. I appointed Sierra as Captain for the last 3 years and I have not ever had a Captain exceed her dependability, initiative, commitment and willing good natured attitude that she shares with all members of our team. She has been a role model to our newcomers and an inspiration to our team leadership. It is and has been a privilege to know her and I look forward to hearing all about her success as a college equestrienne; I have every confidence that she will continue to be an immeasurable asset in any equine venue that she pursues.”
